Stuck with much of its original 70's construction, this single story home was overdue for a facelift.  The husband is an artist, working out of their home.  The wife is an exceptional chef.  She also happens to be my trusty assistant, so updating her home and creating the kitchen of her dreams was a treat for both of us.

 

Now that their "boys" are well over 6', raising the 7'6" kitchen ceiling was on the wishlist.  We were able to gain 13' at the peak but had to keep the large structural beam. By adding extra "decorative" truss-style beams, staining them an aged, warm brown and facing two walls with used brick, the grand space now feels like an artist's loft...quite fitting!
